Digital photography also offers several other benefits for photographers taking portraits. It allows for the ability to edit/touch/retouch a portrait image which can be very beneficial in giving a client what they want. Many Magazines tend you use such techniques by ‘airbrushing’ the photographs of their front page models, removing or adding to the photograph in order to make the portrait appear more ‘beautiful’ or ‘appealing’ so to speak.
• Photography for illustration
Another area that has benefitted from digital advances in photography is the business of photo illustration. For the amateur or even professional photographer, capturing attractive and appealing photos in relation to an area of interest or hobby such as cars, flowers, animals or sports can be just some areas that you may have an interest. Once the photographing stage is complete, images can be catalogued and then edited, printed or published for others to view or even be sold to prospective buyers. Technology advances have meant that often photographs can be sent directly to a computer where they can be compiled or catalogued or even deleted if not required.
• Photojournalism
Digital photography has had the most impact in this field more so than any other. The advances technology such as online news has lead to a demand for the speed of capturing and processing images. Digital photography and the news industry complement each other very well as digital technology allows photographers to be able to use the fast working capabilities offered by digital photography to meet the demands of such a rapid fast moving industry.
Not only has digital photography allowed for an increase in the speed of getting photos out into the market, it has also meant that photographers are able to offer better print quality in their photographs.
Digital photography has had various impacts on the photography industry and created vale and many uses for the photographer of the digital age.
