Now in case you are asking several questions such as, what is the best digital camera? Or what should I be looking for when buying a digital camera? We have compiled a list for you of useful tips to consider when buying a digital camera.
The first thing that you need to consider is what you will be using your digital camera for? Are you going on holidays and need a camera for your travels to capture all those memories? Do you like to have a camera with you to capture great moments at events you attend? Are you looking at taking high-quality photos or getting into professional photography? Will you be using your digital camera to take photos that will be placed online or emailed to others?
The second point to consider when looking to buy a digital camera is to establish how much you are willing to spend, and this is where setting a budget is important. Prices for digital cameras can range from as cheap as $70 all the way up to over $1000 for the top end models. The average user would be looking to spend anywhere from $100 to $300 for a decent digital camera and there are some very good ones available in this price range. You don’t want to go and blow all your money on a top end camera with all the bells and whistles when you are not going to need or use half of them.
Speaking of bells and whistles, this is the next important consideration that needs to be made when buying a digital camera. One must look at the features that are offered by each camera model and determine what is best for them.
Features to look out for include:
• Optical Zoom
The optical zoom is important to note. Do not be fooled by high digital zoom, as the digital zoom whilst making a photo appear larger it sacrifices photo quality to achieve this. A high optical zoom will offer good quality, but once again you need to determine how much optical zoom you need. Do you need a camera that has a high 6x optical zoom of would an optical zoom of 3x be sufficient?
• Memory capacity of the camera
How many photos do you want to be able to take? Digital cameras have various amounts of memory capacity ranging from 6 MB through to 16 MB or more. If the camera you want to purchase does not have much memory built-in then there is always the option of purchasing a memory card which simply slots into the camera and expands the available memory capacity.
• Megapixels
Determining the number of megapixels is also important for your digital camera and the amount of megapixels differs between the models of cameras. Usually the higher the number of megapixels the better quality the images will be so it is usually good to go for a camera with high number of megapixels, but then again it is up to what your needs and budget are.
• Other function and features
Other functions which may be important to consider might be if the camera offers a video recording functionality, which most digital cameras these days offer, but once again depends on the model and memory capacity in terms of how long you can record for.
Hopefully this has made it clearer for you in determining what digital camera you would like to buy and what you need to look for. Please view our range of cameras available at some great prices and they have many great features such as the ones mentioned above.
